This 205 bedroom hotel for the international Radisson SAS Hotel operator with restaurant, bar, 1000 seater conference centre, spa and leisure centre, night club and public car park, located on a site close to Eyre Square, with panoramic views of Lough Atalia and Galway Bay was completed in spring of 2001. An additional floor of luxurious executive guestrooms was added and completed in 2003.
The main entrance lobby to the hotel forms a double height space leading to a four storey atrium with a fully glazed screen opening out onto a south facing terrace.
Panoramic glass lifts ensure that the quality of light is maintained throughout the lobby with the views and aspects of Galway Bay remaining uninterrupted. Materials were chosen to reflect light and compliment the architect’s preoccupation with the constantly shifting patterns of light.
