This was an extremely fast track project, comprising the fit-out from shell and core condition to completion of a 40,000 ft2 office building housing 220 staff, a large and highly serviced research lab facility, a data centre and
a customer briefing suite for international clients. The design was signed off in November of 2007 and the project was tendered and constructed in less than 6 months, and achieved an on time handover despite significant challenges.
The unusual, triangular shape of the building and the fact that it was originally designed for multiple occupancy meant that the design both in space planning and services terms was complex, but a solution delivering natural light to all desks and creating a fully glazed vertical stairwell with breakout and coffee points visible at each level was found. This has improved communication between staff between floors as well as within individual groups.
